Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serdar Güner was born in 1967 in the district of Nazilli, Aydın. After completing his primary, secondary, and high school education in Aydın, he started at Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1984. He completed his degree in 1990 and obtained his specialization title with a 4.5-year training at Izmir Dr. Suat Seren Chest Diseases and Thoracic Surgery Center.
Dr. Serdar Güner is known for his work on lung cancer. He conducted a major group study as the sole contributor on the routine use of tumor markers CA19.9, CA125, and TSA (Total Sialic Acid) in lung cancers, and this thesis was published in EACRR Lung Cancer BERLIN. Additionally, he received a support award from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK).
Dr. Serdar Güner completed his military service as a specialist medical lieutenant at GATA Haydarpaşa Acıbadem Military Chest Hospital. He has also attended numerous conferences abroad and is a member of the American Thoracic Society (ATS) and the European Respiratory Society (ERS). He has several poster and oral presentations abroad.
After serving for 5 years at Izmir Alsancak State Hospital, he was transferred to Turgutlu State Hospital. In 2005, he personally received the "Doctor of the Year" award from the Prime Minister, representing the province of Manisa. He is currently married and the father of a daughter, working at Özel Akdeniz Şifa Hospital.
